What is "salary replacement"?

When a tenure-track or tenured faculty member is allowed to take leave from his or her university, he or she often has the option to take a longer leave for a full year with reduced pay. The LCLF Fellowship can provide funds to help cover the gap between the reduced pay and the faculty member's regular salary.
